ATREX3/27/2012 |
NASA launched the Anomolous Transport Rocket Experiment, or ATREX, mission from the Wallops, VA Flight Facility early on the morning of March 27th, 2012. This included five sounding rockets dispensing a non-toxic glowing cloud into the upper atmosphere to study very high altitude winds. This was clearly visible from our home in Havre de Grace, MD.
The five rockets were launched 80 seconds apart. The clouds were very bright right after being dispensed from the rockets.
The clouds slowly spread out in the upper atmosphere.
