A female Barrow's Goldeneye showed up at the Cambridge, MD marina in mid January 2009. I went down and saw it and a Tufted Duck on January 11th. The amount of yellow in the bill and the shape of the head are the main differences between the Barrow's and Common Goldeneye ducks.
