This large gull was near the water on Assateague Island, MD, in July 2003. It was very, very loud, and it was surprisingly large- much larger than the other laughing gulls and herring gulls we'd seen in the area around this bird. It was standing there making a lot of noise.

This immature Great Black-backed Gull was on the beach near the Ocean City boardwalk in July 2005.

This Great Black-backed Gull was on a piling near the Lock House museum in Havre de Grace, MD on Feb 26th, 2006. This is on the Susquehanna River.

I saw these gulls on the Port Mahon road in Delaware on July 3rd, 2006.
