Bird Photos / Cape May-Lewes Field Trip

I went on a Harford Bird Club trip to Cape May, NJ and Lewes, DE on February 21st, 2009. The main point of the trip was to ride the ferry between the two towns in search of sea-going, or pelagic, birds.

Right after we got to Cape May, we got great looks at several Field Sparrows:

We saw Gadwall in one of the lakes at the State Park:

A Hooded Merganser posed for us in Lily Lake:

And of course, we saw lots of Mallards:

On the ferry, we saw a Red Breasted Merganser in the ferry channel:

We went past a huge group of scoters:

Several Northern Gannets flew by the ship:

A line of ships passed through the channel, heading out into the ocean. This was one of them:
