Bird Photos / Cave Swallow

Last Update: 12/2/2012

A few Cave Swallows, or maybe the same one on repeat passes, flew over the Cape May hawk watch platform on November 20th, 2010. The hawk watch count people were able to quickly point out these birds from the more common Tree Swallows flying over Bunker Pond.

Note the tan colored chin and non-white belly.

(Above) The forehead is brown. On a Cliff Swallow, it would be white.

For comparison purposes, the next photo shows a Tree Swallow in flight. This photo was taken at the same general time as the Cave Swallow photos.

I saw several more Cave Swallows at the same place in Cape May on November 26th, 2012.
