Joyce and I saw a number of Common Murres at Macchias Seal Island, ME on June 25th, 2010. These birds normally live out at sea. They come ashore to rocky, isolated islands to lay eggs and raise their young in a predator-free environment. Note that some of these birds have white eye rings and white lines on their faces. These are called "Bridled" Murres.
