Bird Photos / Common TernLast update: 6/15/2013 |
I saw these first terns at the Brigantine wildlife preserve near Atlantic City, NJ on July 29th, 2006. The individual birds were on a culvert right next to the road, while the group photo at the end shows some birds in one of the big freshwater impoundments there.
This Common Tern was in pretty much the same place at Brigantine, but on July 4th, 2008.
We saw several Common Terns diving for fish in the Atlantic Ocean. We watched them from the beach in Ocean City, MD.
These terns were flying around near the concrete ship at Sunset Beach in Cape May, NJ, on August 16th, 2008.
Joyce and I saw these birds in a mixed group with some Arctic Terns at Petit Manan Island, ME in June 2010.
The birds were in a big mixed group. It was hard to tell the Commons from the Arctics.
A few Common Terns joined a larger group of Forsters Terns in a nesting colony just outside of Poplar Island in the Chesapeake Bay.
