We saw this first bird while fishing from the pier in Ocean City, MD on July 28th, 2005. We first saw its head in the water as it swam around, like a little tiny Loch Ness Monster. It then flew to the piling and aired its wings out for a few minutes. After this was done it flew away.
These juvenile cormorants were standing on pilings in the Susquehanna River by the Havre de Grace, MD Lock House museum in December, 2005.

Several thousand Double-crested Cormorants nest on Poplar Island in the Chesapeake Bay. I saw numerous adults and chicks during a day out there on June 5th, 2013.
