Joyce's and Monroe's Backyard Birds / Mourning Dove

Last Update: 5/5/2020

We have 5 or 6 Mourning Doves in our neighborhood. We usually see them on the ground under the feeder, eating the seeds knocked down there by the other birds. They make a very distinctive "woo woo woo" sound, and when they take off to fly away there's a fluttering, whistling noise from their wings.
