Bird Photos / Greater ShearwaterLast update: 9/7/2016 |
Joyce and I saw several groups of Greater Shearwaters in the Bay of Maine during a whale watching tour out of Bar Harbor on June 26th, 2010. The boat did not slow down for the birds, so I had to snap these photos quickly as we sped by. It was very foggy, so it was hard to get good shots.
I went on a pelagic bird trip into the Atlantic Ocean on August 15th, 2010. We went to Maryland and Delaware waters out to about 60 miles off shore. Conditions were nearly perfect, and I got much better photos of the Greater Shearwaters on this cruise.
The smaller birds in the following photos are Wilson's Storm Petrels.
I saw these birds on a pelagic trip in the Atlantic on August 25th, 2012.
We saw these on a whale watching trip in the Gulf of Maine on July 24th, 2016.
These were on the Gulf of Maine on the foggy morning of July 29th, 2016.
