Bird Photos / Great Horned OwlLast Update: 3/12/2012 |
We saw two Great Horned Owls during a Cecil County bird club trip around the county on February 16th, 2008. The birds did not get very close, so the photos came out very dark. This is the only halfway identifiable one, and it took some curve adjustment in Photoshop to make it clear enough to see here.
I saw a Great Horned Owl on its nest near the Bolsa Chica Wildlife Preserve in Orange County, CA on January 25th, 2010.
I attended a wildlife photography workshop at Eden Mill Nature Center in Harford County, MD on April 3rd, 2010. They had a captive Great Horned Owl for us to photograph. They told us that this bird would not be able to survivein the wild, so they use it for educational purposes. Apparently it was rescued and rehabilitated some time in the past. The bird was placed on the tree and held in place with jessies.
These two owls were perched on a tree in broad daylight on March 11th, 2012. We saw them on a Harford Bird Club field trip to Harford Glen park near Abingdon, MD.
