I saw this first green heron at the lake in the Susquehanna State Park picnic area on the morning of May 30th, 2005. I had been taking photos on the far side of the lake and was packed up and heading back to the car. As I walked by the edge of the lake, this bird popped out from under my feet (almost!) and flew to the branch seen here. It stayed long enough for me to get several photos.

The next green heron was in the almost-dry impoundment at Swan Harbor Farms in Harford County, MD on July 22nd, 2007.

The next green heron flew overhead at Swan Harbor in early August 2007.
