I saw this first Green Heron at the lake in the Susquehanna State Park picnic area on the morning of May 30th, 2005. I had been taking photos on the far side of the lake and was packed up and heading back to the car. As I walked by the edge of the lake, this bird popped out from under my feet (almost!) and flew to the branch seen here. It stayed long enough for me to get several photos.

The next Green Heron was in the almost-dry impoundment at Swan Harbor Farms in Harford County, MD on July 22nd, 2007.

The next Green Heron flew overhead at Swan Harbor in early August 2007.

Joyce and I saw these herons at Cuyahoga Valley NP, OH in late July 2007.

This Green Heron flew over Harford Glen, MD on July 19th, 2008.

I saw several Green Herons fishing in the streams at Cape May Point State Park, NJ on July 31st, 2010.

The following series of photos shows the same bird slowly extending over the water and then striking at a fish. The whole sequence lasted about 10 seconds.

There were several Green Herons at Harford Glen on May 26th, 2013.

This bird flew next to the Port Mahon road in Delaware on May 24th, 2014.
