We saw these herons from the public parking areas near Conowingo Dam in Harford County, MD, in mid July 2003. A large group of Great Blue Herons lives on an island across the river from the parking lot, and the birds fly very close to the public area.

This heron was on the bank of the Susquehanna river. We saw it from the nature trail in Susquehanna State Park in late September, 2003.
