Bird Photos / Dark-eyed JuncoLast Update: 4/3/2016 |
We had many Dark-eyed Juncos visit our backyard during the winter. They came in groups and ate mostly from the ground or the deck.
The next two photos show Juncos in our back yard. They were taken by the NovaBird backyard bird camera, which uses a motion sensor to trigger the camera.
The Juncos we have in Maryland are the slate-colored version. Out west, in Texas and New Mexico, they have other subspecies. I saw these Oregon Juncos at Rio Bosque park in El Paso, TX and at Bosque del Apache NWR, NM, in late October 2009.
These birds were at our backyard feeder in late January and early February 2010.
We saw these birds in our backyard during a snowstorm on March 3rd, 2014.
We had more Juncos during a snowstorm on Feb 21st, 2015.
These were on our deck during the March 5th, 2015 snow.
These came to our deck during the big snowstorm on January 23rd, 2016.
These were at our feeder in February 2016.
