Liberty Ship SS John W. Brown

Joyce and I won tickets for a cruise on the World War 2 Liberty Ship John W. Brown on June 1st, 2013. We won the tickets through the Baltimore Sun newspaper's rewards program. This Baltimore-based ship is one of two remaining operational Liberty Ships.

The ship was powered by a large steam engine. It was very hot in the engine room.

We cruised from the terminal into the Chesapeake Bay. We saw some sights on the way out.

Fort Carroll, near the Key Bridge. It is home to a large colony of nesting birds now.

Yacht Freedom

The cruise included entertainment by the Manhatten Dolls and re-enactors dressed in World War 2 era uniforms and civilian clothes.
