Joyce and I saw hundreds of Puffins at the breeding colony at Macchias Seal Isalnd, ME on July 25th, 2010. We took a boat tour from Cutler, ME and spent a few hours right offshore, within a few feet of the rocks. Our tour operator did not have landing permits for our specific day, but we still got very close to these beautiful birds. They only come ashore to breed.
