We saw this first woodpecker from the hawk watch site at Turkey Point in Cecil County, MD, on September 24th, 2005. It is hard to see the red on its belly, but it has a red patch on top of its head, which is kind of hard to see here. The red headed woodpecker has a completely red head, which this bird lacks.

This next bird was also at Turkey Point, on December 27th, 2005.

I saw the next woodpecker at Perryville Community Park in Cecil County, MD on April 9th, 2006.

This bird showed up at our backyard feeder in January 2007.
