I saw this first bird on a wire near the entrance of the Rio Bosque wetlands park in El Paso, TX on 28 November 2006. Unlike the ones at home in Maryland, it didn't fly off when I got close enough to take its picture.

This bird was on the wire at Swan Harbor Farm on September 7th, 2007. Note the grasshopper in its talons.

I saw this kestrel at Bolsa Chica Wildlife Preserve in Huntington Beach, CA in late January 2010.

This bird flew over the Turkey Point hawk watch on September 10th, 2011.

This kestrel (on the right) flew near a Chimney Swift on September 10th, 2011.

I saw this one over the hawk watch on September 22nd, 2013.
