We spent our summer vacation in Ocean City, MD during the last week of July 2009. I stopped at Bombay Hook, DE and other nearby locations on the way down, and again on the way home. Birds at Bombay Hook include:
I saw this Bobwhite alongside the road.
There were many Short Billed Dowitchers along with lots of other shore birds.
This beautiful Tricolored Heron posed near the road.
Hundreds of Avocets populated Raymond Pool.
We saw some birds right from our beach:
Pelicans flew right over us, and they dove for fish right off shore.
Groups of Whimbrels (top) and Sanderlings flew south right in front of us, just off shore.
On July 31st, I saw a Reeve (a female Ruff) at Taylor's Gut north of Bombay Hook:
