Bird Photos / White Sands, NM4/13/2006 |
I had a work trip to White Sands Missile Range, NM in mid April 2006. I brought my cameras and spent a little time birdwatching when I wasn't in my meetings. I went to the White Sands Missile Range museum area, which included a small desert nature walk, and the White Sands National Monument. Most of the birds I saw there were at the visitor's center.
At the WSMR museum area, I saw a very bright yellow and blue bird. It's the western form of the Yellow Rumped Warbler:

There were lots of White Winged Doves in the area:

At the National Monument visitor's center I saw several other birds. The first was a Western Kingbird:

A White Crowned Sparrow posed for pictures too:

Fianlly, among the dunes, I saw a nice Black Throated Sparrow:
